Dr. Robert Sarkany is a Consultant Dermatologist and Senior Photodermatology Consultant. He is experienced in treating skin diseases of all types in children and adults, specializing in skin rashes, skin cancer, sun sensitivity, and ultraviolet light therapy. Dr. Sarkany graduated from the University of London with a bachelor's degree, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Doctorate. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. He previously held consultant positions at Mayday and St George's before his current post. He led the Photodermatology Unit, establishing the National Xeroderma Pigmentosum Centre, the largest such centre in the world.Dr. Sarkany is actively involved in research on sunlight sensitivity, sun allergy, and ultraviolet light therapy and frequently lectures internationally. He has published extensively in dermatology research. He has served as an associate editor on the Rook's Textbook of Dermatology, Editorial Board Member of the 'Photodermatology Photoimmunology Photomedicine' Journal, President of the European Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society, co-Chair of the Britain and Ireland Porphyria Network, and Chair of the British Photodermatology Group.His expertise includes all types of rashes, skin lesions, skin cancers, moles, hair and nail problems, children and adults' skin problems, photosensitivity, phototherapy, and cutaneous porphyrias.
