About
Dr. Muschaweck's extraordinary career as a surgeon started in 1989 when she entered new territory in the field of hernia surgery at the University Rechts der Isar in Munich, Germany. Under the project - Day Surgery - she visited the Shouldice in Toronto, Canada, where she adopted the method of suture repair under local anaesthesia from Dr. Earle Byrnes Shouldice, enabling patients to come to the clinic in the morning and return home in the evening after surgery. In 1993, she opened her private practice in Munich and developed two new surgical methods over the next 10 years: the "Munich Repair" for treating umbilical hernias and the "Minimal Repair" specially developed for sportsmen's groin of athletes. Optimising her skills, she has treated numerous top athletes from around the world, successfully enabling them to resume training within days. Her Hernia Centre in Munich has performed over 25,000 successful surgeries to date, with a yearly rate of 1,400 surgeries. Dr. Muschaweck is a sought-after lecturer at international hernia and sports congresses, where she regularly shares her knowledge with interested audiences. Her expertise includes hernia surgery, groin pain, and sportsmen's groin.
