Dr Sarah Riaz is a highly experienced Consultant Dermatologist who is skilled in managing all types of skin diseases in both adults and children. She has over 30 years of experience in the treatment, management and diagnosis of conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, acne, rosacea, vitiligo and allergies to medications or to cosmetic products. She performs skin cancer screening clinics with dermoscopy and is a core member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team. She also advises on anti aging skin care products. She has a compassionate approach to patients and understands the psychological impact that skin diseases can have on them. She strives to deliver exceptional care to her patients and receives many referrals from GP colleagues, dermatology colleagues and other specialists requesting a second opinion on diagnosis and treatment of common skin conditions and more complex skin disorders. She also sees many patients who self refer based on recommendations from their family and friends who have seen Dr. Riaz. She sees private patients at a range of HCA clinics in London including the Chelsea Outpatient Centre, Sydney Street clinic, Chiswick Medical Centre and The Portland Hospital consulting rooms at 84 Harley Street.
Dr Riaz earned her bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Charing Cross and Westminster medical school, just prior to it merging with the world renowned Imperial College, London. She then undertook her specialist training in dermatology at two prestigious busy London teaching hospitals: Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. During this time, she gained her wealth of experience by performing urgent skin cancer clinics, skin cancer surgical lists and general and paediatric dermatology clinics.
Since her Consultant appointment in 2010 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital London, Dr Riaz was appointed the Clinical Lead for the Community Dermatology services and set up 21 clinics across west and central London. During this time, she was actively involved in medical education, as she regularly tutored Imperial College medical students and supervised dermatology specialist registrars and trained GP colleagues who were keen to obtain further specialist dermatology training.
She has a preventative approach to the management of skin lesions and spends time performing full mole/skin checks with dermoscopy. Her ethos is to identify skin cancers early such as melanoma or basal cell cancers, so that they can be excised quickly to improve patient care and prognosis. She works closely with a team of specialist Moh's surgeons and plastic surgeons to ensure that the best outcomes and best cosmetic results are achieved. She is also keen to treat acne early before patients develop severe permanent scarring.
She is a member of the British association of Dermatologists, St. John's Dermatological Society, the Royal Society of Medicine and was awarded a fellowship of the Royal college of Physicians London.
