Dr Sara McCartney is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with special interests in general gastroenterology, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, bowel cancer screening, and adolescent gastroenterology. She practises at The Wellington Hospital and is also a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College London Hospital, where she serves as Chair of Gastroenterology.
She is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist within the National Screening Programme and acts as an examiner in colonoscopic accreditation.
Dr McCartney has a subspecialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease and completed her PhD studying inflammatory mechanisms in IBD. She is Chair of the Adolescent and Young Person’s section at the British Society of Gastroenterology and has particular expertise in endoscopy, colonoscopy, and gastroenterology in young people.
