Dr. Sandeep Basavarajaiah is an experienced consultant cardiologist with clinical interests spanning arrhythmia, congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and interventional cardiology. He holds a particular fascination for sports cardiology and heart failure. Throughout his career, Dr. Basavarajaiah has conducted over 2000 percutaneous coronary interventions and provided supervision for more than 600 cases involving specialist registrars. His expertise extends to evaluating the cardiovascular system of athletes, having assessed over 3,000 individuals using ECG and echocardiogram.
Originally qualifying in India with a medical degree, Dr. Basavarajaiah became a member of the Royal College of Physicians. His training encompasses prestigious institutions, including Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and San Raffaelle Hospital in Milan. Under the guidance of Professor Antonio Colombo, a globally recognized interventional cardiologist, Dr. Basavarajaiah further honed his skills in coronary intervention.
In addition to his clinical pursuits, Dr. Basavarajaiah maintains an interest in research. His time at King's College involved investigating the differences in left ventricular remodelling among athletes of various ethnicities, contributing to his MD. Subsequently, he has published numerous articles in esteemed medical journals such as 'Heart' and 'Catheter Cardiovascular Intervention.'
