Dr Howell is a Consultant Medical Oncologist with extensive experience in managing both early-stage and advanced breast cancer. His clinical practice covers the full treatment journey, including pre-operative and post-operative systemic therapies, combining endocrine treatment and chemotherapy in curative care, as well as tailoring ongoing strategies for patients with metastatic disease.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Nottingham before undertaking specialist training in Medical Oncology at The Christie. Dr Howell was awarded a PhD in Medical Oncology from the University of Manchester in 2016. Earlier in his academic career, he became Senior Lecturer in Breast Oncology at the University of Manchester in 2010.
Working in close collaboration with researchers at the Manchester Breast Centre, Dr Howell is actively involved in translating emerging scientific discoveries into clinical practice. His research focuses on innovative methods of targeting normal and cancer stem cells, with the aim of advancing breast cancer prevention and improving therapeutic outcomes.
Dr Howell’s specialist interests lie in translational breast oncology and the use of endocrine therapies in breast cancer management.
