Dr Punit Ramrakha is a Consultant Cardiologist with over 20 years of experience. He specialises in coronary heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, blackouts and dizziness, heart failure, and valve disease. He is a skilled interventional cardiologist with broad expertise. His attention to detail and passion for results strengthens his performance across procedures, from coronary angioplasty with stents (including complex treatments such as rotablation and shock wave therapy) as well as structural heart interventions (ASD and PFO closure), and pacemaker implantation.
Dr Ramrakha graduated from Cambridge and Oxford Universities with first-class honoursand was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2002. His NHS practice is at the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trusts. He has been the Clinical Director of Medicine at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the Clinical Lead for Cardiology and is currently the Clinical Lead for Heart Failure in Buckinghamshire.
in 2005, Dr Ramrakha founded the Chiltern Hills Heart Clinic, Buckinghamshire's first private cardiology clinic. The clinic has been inspected by the Care Quality Commission several times and has passed each time with flying colours. In 2020, he co-founded the London Heart Practice, to provide excellence in cardiac care even in the time of coronavirus pandemic.
Dr Ramrakha is also well established in the scientific research community, authoring various medical textbooks, such as the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine, Oxford Handbook of Acute Medicine, Oxford Handbook of Cardiology, as well as peer reviewed journals. His research interest is in vascular biology and clinical application of new and digital technologies such as the unique patient app HeartHealth (Hearthealth.org.uk).
