About

Dr Oliver Segal is one of the leading heart specialists (cardiologist & electrophysiologist) in the UK, practising privately at The Harley Street Clinic and at Barts Heart Centre, St. Bartholomew's (the largest cardiac centre in Europe) and University College Hospitals. He is highly recommended by testimonials from his patients in treating heart rhythm problems with a very patient-focussed approach.

He graduated from King's College London in 1995 and has been dedicated to cardiology, specialising in cardiac electrophysiology and devices to help treat patients with heart rhythm problems and palpitations, such as atrial fibrillation, SVT, ectopics, ventricular tachycardia and slow heart rhythms. He trained at St. Mary's & St. George's Hospitals in London as well as obtaining a Fellowship in Electrophysiology & Devices at Prof George Klein's world-renowned centre in London, Ontario, Canada in 2007. Other notable interests and achievements include being awarded a doctorate from The National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College in 2008, for his research in mapping complex ventricular arrhythmias, demonstrating his dedication to developing treatments for patients with cardiac problems. He was awarded first prize at the prestigious Young Investigator's Award for parts of this research by the Heart Rhythm Society of the USA in San Francisco in 2004.

Focusing on seeing patients with a wide range of conditions and treating them with catheter ablation and devices to improve quality of life, including performing AF catheter ablation to cure atrial fibrillation and fitting pacemakers or devices such as an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICDs) to treat life-threatening heart rhythms.

Dr Segal continues to make important strides forward into heart health and research for his patients. He publishes regularly in cardiology & electrophysiology journals with interests in atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation and device implantation. He is also lead for electrophysiology & arrhythmias at UCLH. He sits on the European Heart Rhythm Association Exam Setting Committee.
