Dr Mark Furman is a consulant specialist in paediatric gastroenterology. He is currently based at the private practices The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, Wellington (HCA) Diagnostic and Outpatient Centre in Golders Green and Elstree. His current NHS post is Royal Free London Foundation Trust, where he is the Clinical Lead, and works within a network with Great Ormond Street Hospital. His areas of interest include General Paediatric Gastroenterology; Gastro-oesophageal Reflux; Food Allergy and Intolerance; Coeliac Disease, Eosinophilic Oeaophagitis, Constipation and IBD (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis).
in addition to being the Clincial Lead of the Centre for Paediatric Gastroenterology at Royal Free Hospital, he also holds the trust-wide post of Chief Medical Information Officer there, with a special interest in digital transformation.
Dr Furman qualified from University of Cape Town in 1991 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1997. He completed a Diploma in Child Health at University of Cape Town in 1991.
In addition, Dr Furman is actively involved in clinical research particularly on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), Eosinophilic Oesophagitis, and Coeliac Disease. He also lectures at national and international conferences and sits on several specialist committees in UK and in Europe.
