Dr Hamid Sheikh is a Clinical Oncologist and the lead for upper gastrointestinal cancer. He graduated with a BChir from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and completed his core medical training on the London medical rotation, earning Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2002. He subsequently undertook specialist training in clinical oncology as a Specialist Registrar from 2003 to 2008, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007.
Dr Sheikh leads a lung cancer service, providing comprehensive care for patients with thoracic malignancies. This includes offering intra-luminal brachytherapy, a specialised treatment for tumours within the airways. He is also actively involved in clinical research, participating in multiple trials focused on advancing the management of lung cancer.
His clinical expertise spans chemotherapy and radiotherapy for both lung and gastrointestinal cancers, with a particular focus on oesophagogastric malignancies. Through his combined clinical and research work, Dr Sheikh contributes to the development and delivery of cutting-edge oncology care, ensuring evidence-based treatments for his patients.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he remains engaged with the oncology community through research collaborations and trial participation, reflecting his commitment to improving outcomes for patients with complex cancer types.
