Dr. Florian Wernig is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, known for his expertise in both clinical endocrinology and endocrine research. With a specialised focus on complex conditions such as pituitary disease, adrenal disorders, neuroendocrine tumours, thyroid disorders, and thyroid cancer, he combines extensive knowledge with a compassionate approach to patient care.
Dr. Wernig’s career is marked by a strong commitment to advancing the field of endocrinology. After earning his MD in molecular endocrinology at the University of Innsbruck, he deepened his research experience at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and St George’s University of London. This foundation has inspired his active role as Principal Investigator in several high-impact clinical trials, where he continues to make strides in understanding and treating endocrine disorders.
Alongside his clinical and research roles, Dr. Wernig holds a position as Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, where he mentors future leaders in medicine. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and actively involved with key professional bodies, including the Endocrine Society, the British Society for Endocrinology, the European Society for Endocrinology, and the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumours.
