Dr Diana Holdright is a Consultant Cardiologist with extensive experience across the full spectrum of adult cardiology. Her clinical practice includes the management of ischaemic heart disease, encompassing angina, coronary artery disease, and myocardial infarction, alongside the use of percutaneous coronary intervention such as coronary angioplasty and stenting, as well as coronary artery bypass grafting. She also manages valvular heart disease and heart failure and assesses and treats cardiac rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation. Her work further includes cardiovascular risk assessment and screening, with additional specialist interest in autonomic dysfunction and multidisciplinary conditions such as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (PoTS).
Dr Holdright played a key role in establishing coronary angioplasty as the first-line treatment for heart attack, contributing to the development of Heart Attack Centres across London and the UK. She previously served for many years as a cardiologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, where she developed experience in the investigation of blackouts and dizziness, cardiac causes of stroke, and assessment of cardiac risk in epilepsy.
She graduated in medicine from University College London in 1984, having completed a BSc in Human Genetics three years earlier. Dr Holdright undertook postgraduate cardiology training at several major London institutions, including The National Heart Hospital, The London Chest Hospital, The Royal Brompton Hospital, and University College London Hospitals. She has worked as a Consultant Cardiologist since 1997 and has over 25 years of consultant-level experience.
Her areas of clinical expertise include atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain, dizzy spells and blackouts, cardiovascular screening and risk assessment, heart attack management, angioplasty and bypass surgery, valve disease, heart failure, and cardiac causes of stroke.
