Mr David Bartlett is a Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Liver Transplant Surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades, Mr Bartlett has made significant contributions to the field of surgical oncology and transplantation.
Mr Bartlett's expertise encompasses a wide range of open and laparoscopic procedures for benign and malignant liver, biliary, and pancreatic diseases, as well as liver transplantation. He holds a special interest in complex surgeries for conditions such as hilar cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic cancer, including procedures involving vascular resection.
Throughout his career, Mr Bartlett has held various positions at esteemed institutions, including The Harborne Hospital, where he served as a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon. He has also been actively involved in research and academia, holding positions as an Honorary Clinical Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham and as a Research Registrar in Surgery at University Hospital Birmingham.
Mr Bartlett has completed extensive education and training, which includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Birmingham, focusing on the role of adhesion molecule interactions in the engraftment of transplanted hepatocytes into the host liver. He also holds an MBChB in Medicine from the University of Bristol.
