Dr Balraj Dhesi is an experienced Consultant Radiologist based at The Harborne Hospital, with specialist expertise in uroradiology, colorectal imaging and peritoneal imaging. He provides a wide range of advanced diagnostic and interventional imaging services, including image-guided biopsies and drainage procedures, with a strong focus on delivering accurate, patient-centred care.
Dr Dhesi plays an active role in medical education and training. He is currently the Royal College of Radiologists College Tutor at University Hospitals Birmingham and the Uroradiology Lead for the West Midlands Deanery Radiology Academy. In addition, he holds honorary appointments as a Clinical Tutor at the University of Birmingham and a Specialist Lecturer at Birmingham City University. He also serves as Treasurer of the British Society of Urogenital Radiology, contributing to the development of standards and education within his subspecialty.
He graduated with honours in medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2011 and completed his foundation training and radiology specialist training in the West Midlands, developing broad expertise in abdominal radiology. Dr Dhesi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists.
As part of his specialist practice, Dr Dhesi performs transperineal prostate biopsies under local anaesthetic (LATP). He recently co-organised a national training course in this technique in collaboration with the British Society of Urogenital Radiology, helping to train and upskill other healthcare professionals in this evolving area of practice.
