Mr Babar Kayani is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacements, complex primary joint replacement, revision (redo) surgery, robotic‑assisted joint replacement, and treatment of infected or failed hip and knee replacements. He provides comprehensive, patient‑centred care for individuals with arthritis, joint pain, mobility problems, and complex hip and knee conditions.
Mr Kayani works within the renowned Joint Reconstruction Unit at the prestigious RNOH, a national referral centre for complex hip and knee pathology. He collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure personalised, evidence‑based treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Kayani has an extensive academic background. He completed a PhD at University College London (UCL) investigating how robotic technology improves outcomes in total knee replacement surgery. He has authored over 140 peer‑reviewed research publications and delivered more than 250 national and international presentations on hip and knee conditions, joint replacement techniques, and surgical innovation.
Mr Kayani has served as Principal Investigator for five major randomised controlled trials at UCL and has supervised research students at both Imperial College London and UCL, contributing significantly to advancements in modern joint replacement surgery.
His work has been recognised through numerous prestigious awards from leading surgical and orthopaedic organisations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England, British Orthopaedic Association, Orthopaedic Research UK, SICOT/CCJR, EFORT, ORS, AAHKS, and ISTA.
Mr Kayani is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an active British Orthopaedic Association member. He also serves on the board of the respected Bone and Joint Journal.
