Asma Sarwar

Dr Asma Sarwar is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), specialising in the treatment of gynaecological cancers, including cervical, endometrial, vulval, and vaginal cancers. She provides a comprehensive range of treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy.

Dr Sarwar graduated from University College London with a medical degree in 2006. Following completion of her Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 2017, she undertook a research degree (MD), which she completed in 2022, focusing on the use of brachytherapy in the treatment of cervical cancer.

Special/ research interests;

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Sarwar holds several leadership and educational roles. She serves as Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) College Tutor at UCLH, Clinical Oncology Representative for the British Gynaecological Cancer Society, and Real-World Evidence Clinical Lead at UCLH. She is also an Education Mentor for the International Gynaecologic Cancer Society. Dr Sarwar is actively involved with several professional organisations, including ESTRO, GEC-ESTRO, GTG-UK, ESTRO-EPTN and PTCOG, and is Principal Investigator for several systemic therapy clinical trials

A strong advocate for research and innovation, Dr Sarwar has a particular interest in advancing radiotherapy treatments for gynaecological cancers. She leads the proton beam therapy research programme in gynaecological oncology at UCLH and is actively involved in a range of radiotherapy research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.
