She qualified in medicine from Imperial College London School of Medicine. She trained in Oncology at the Royal Marsden and at University College Hospital and completed an MD in the genetics of prostate cancer at the Institute of Cancer Research.
She has a busy prostate, bladder and penile cancer practice and works within two multidisciplinary teams. She has an interest in technical radiotherapy and she is the lead for stereotactic radiotherapy for urological malignancies. She is part of the University College Hospital team delivering high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy for prostate cancer for the surrounding hospitals. She has a sub-speciality interest in penile cancer management. She is a principal investigator for a variety of national and international studies in prostate, bladder and penile cancer.
Dr Mitra specialises in the treatment of prostate cancer with hormonal therapy, HDR brachytherapy, photon radiotherapy, and proton beam therapy.
