Dr Amal Muthumala is a highly qualified Consultant Cardiologist with clinical interests in several areas of cardiology, including heart failure, device implantation, chest pain, palpitation, breathlessness, syncope, hypertension, valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, and cardiac risk assessment.
Dr Muthumala received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 2001, and he has worked in London before training in general cardiology at the Oxford deanery. He completed specialist fellowships in Complex Devices and Advanced Heart Failure in Calgary, Canada, and at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. He earned his MD (Res) in Cardiovascular Genetics from University College London in 2009 and became a certified cardiac device specialist in 2012. In 2014, he was awarded his CCT in cardiology.
Dr Muthumala has held several leadership roles in the past, including Clinical Lead for Heart Failure at North Middlesex Hospital. Currently, he serves as the Clinical Lead for Devices at Barts Heart Centre. He is also a member of the British Society of Heart Failure and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. With his extensive experience and qualifications, Dr Muthumala is a highly respected cardiologist in the UK.
