Mr. Alessandro Viviano is a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and a leading specialist in Aortic Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Hammersmith Hospital. With nearly two decades of experience in cardiac surgery and over three years in a leadership r ole, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care in adult cardiac surgery and complex aortic procedures. In addition to his surgical work, he serves as the Clinical Governance Lead for Cardiac Surgery at Imperial College London, focusing on patient safety, excellence, and continuous improvement in surgical outcomes.

Mr. Viviano obtained his medical degree from the University of Rome in 2007, where his passion for cardiothoracic surgery first took root. His specialist training began in Rome and continued within the London Deanery, where he refined his skills at renowned institutions such as Imperial College London, The Royal Sussex County Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, and St George’s Hospital. To further advance his expertise, he undertook an Advanced Cardia c and Aortic Fellowship at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand. In parallel with his surgical training, he earned a higher degree (MD Res) from St George's University of London and Ki ng’s College London, contributing to his academic and clinical development. With a deep commitment to global collaboration, Mr. Viviano has participated in international electives and fellowships across Europe, the USA, China, and New Zealand. Mr. Viviano specialises in complex aortic surgery, including reoperations and emergency repair of acute aortic dissections. He is also highly experienced in coronary surgery, with a n emphasis on arterial revascularisation. Passionate about innovation, he actively pursues minimally invasive surgical techniques to enhance patient recovery and outcomes. He is part of the Northwest London Acute Aortic Dissection rota, ensuring urgent, high-quality care for emergency Type A Aortic Dissections.
