Mr Ramsey Chammaa is a leading consultant spinal surgeon based in London. He is specialist in infections and trauma of the spine and degenerative conditions affecting the spine including complex disorders of the cervical and lumbar spine. He is also expert in spinal surgery, including the use of minimally invasive techniques as well as robotics and navigated spinal surgery.

Mr Chammaa qualified in medicine from Charles University in Prague in 2004 before completing further specialist training in trauma and orthopaedics in the UK. He was awarded a post-graduate diploma in sports and exercise medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010, having been appointed a member in 2008 and later a fellow in trauma and orthopaedics in 2016. Following completion of his specialist training, he completed two fellowships in spinal surgery; one being based between the Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital and the other at New Zealand’s Auckland City Hospital. Since 2019, he has worked as a consultant orthopaedic and spinal surgeon within Whittington Health NHS Trust, where he is the lead for Trauma and the Virtual Fracture Clinic. Mr Chammaa sees private patients at BMI Hendon Hospital, Schoen Clinic (London), The Princess Grace Hospital and Highgate Hospital. Working to improve his patients' experience, Mr Chammaa has introduced day case lumbar discectomy surgery in his NHS practice, a surgical procedure exclusively available at selected units in the UK.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Chammaa maintains a range of teaching responsibilities and frequently leads courses on orthopaedics and is an educator to University College London undergraduates. He is actively involved in research, is a local principal investigator for PQIP (perioperative quality improvement programme) and has contributed to numerous academic publications in peer reviewed journals. Mr Chammaa is currently working to introduce kinesiometrics in the UK through an international collaboration with surgeons and companies in the US.
