Eric Clarke is an Australian-trained Sports Physiotherapist with more than two decades of professional experience. He completed his undergraduate physiotherapy degree at the University of Sydney in 1999 and later achieved a Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in 2006. His clinical focus centres on lower limb injuries involving the hip, knee, and ankle, including rehabilitation following surgery.
He has built an extensive career working within elite sport at international level, supporting Australian, British, and multinational athletes across a wide range of disciplines such as sailing, premiership rugby, triathlon, basketball, athletics, rowing, cycling, boxing, and martial arts. Eric holds Gold Level membership with ACPSEM and is recognised in Australia as a titled APA Sports Physiotherapist, reflecting his advanced sports-specific training and experience.
In recent years, Eric has worked closely with elite netball as Lead Physiotherapist for Saracens Mavericks in the VNSL. He also supports international professional squash players and athletes from gymnastics, running, tennis, and swimming. His sailing experience includes serving as team physiotherapist for Artemis Racing, the Swedish entrant in the 34th America’s Cup, as well as working with the Australian Olympic Team at the 2008 Beijing Games, where the team achieved two gold medals and one silver.
Eric follows an evidence-based treatment approach that combines hands-on therapies, including mobilisation, manipulation, massage, and acupuncture when appropriate, with tailored exercise programmes. His practice is underpinned by strong diagnostic skills and a detailed understanding of biomechanics, with emphasis on identifying and addressing underlying causes rather than symptoms alone.
He lives in Hertfordshire with his English wife and their two young children. Outside of work, Eric enjoys cycling and swimming. Although previous rugby injuries now limit his running, he has completed three marathons, achieving a personal best time of 3 hours and 17 minutes.
