Dr. Nadir, a distinguished cardiologist trained in the United States, serves as a consultant Cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, holds the position of Associate Professor of Cardiology with the Institute of Cardiovascular Science at the University of Birmingham, and is recognized as a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. Additionally, he fulfills the role of clinical lead for Cardiology across Birmingham and Solihull ICS.

He has wide experience and manages all aspects of cardiology. He is a national expert in minimally invasive replacement and repair of heart valves including TAVI and MitraClip. 

His professional journey commenced with medical and cardiology training in the West Midlands and Northwest England. A pivotal phase as a British Heart Foundation Fellow in Scotland led to the discovery of innovative techniques for early heart disease detection. His research garnered the prestigious first prize from the Scottish Society of Physicians in 2010 and was published in esteemed international journals, notably the Lancet, Circulation, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In acknowledgment of his contributions, he was awarded his doctorate in 2011 for his thesis.

Continuing his quest for excellence, he pursued an advanced fellowship in interventional and structural cardiology at the esteemed Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, consistently ranked among the top 10 best hospitals in the US. During this tenure, he refined his skills in performing minimally invasive heart valve repair and replacement procedures, including TAVI and MitraClip, which are considered revolutionary treatment modalities.

Upon his return to the UK, Dr. Nadir assumed the role of consultant interventional cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2017. Notably, he led the transcatheter heart valve program, offering selected patients treatment options without surgery, thereby making significant advancements in patient care.

His approach is comprehensive, encompassing the management of various heart conditions with a strong focus on prevention. Dr. Nadir specializes in addressing chest pains, palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, heart valve disease, angina, and heart failure, as well as optimizing heart conditions pre-major surgery.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Nadir is committed to education. He spearheads educational initiatives within the cardiology department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and holds an honorary senior lecturer position at the University of Birmingham. His dedication to teaching extends globally, as he mentors medical students and cardiologists worldwide, promoting knowledge exchange and skill development.

As an advocate for patient empowerment, Dr. Nadir excels in simplifying complex medical concepts and facilitating informed decision-making through accessible information technology.
