01
Referral or transfer
Whether you’ve been referred to us by your own doctor, your Embassy’s clinical team or have arrived with us by international transfer, from the moment you come through our doors, until the time you’re discharged home, we want you to feel as reassured, informed and as comfortable as possible. Depending on your condition and what your consultant feels is best, you may be able to have virtual follow-ups online, at your convenience.
02
Initial consultation
Even if you have an existing diagnosis, you’ll initially be seen by one of our specialists who’ll ask about your full medical and family history and any previous procedures you’ve had. They’ll conduct a physical examination and discuss your symptoms and concerns in depth.
03
Investigations and diagnosis
Your consultant will arrange a series of tests, depending on the nature of your condition. You may then need to be reviewed by a multidisciplinary team to ensure you receive the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
04
Treatment and aftercare
You’ll be treated by a specialist HCA UK international medical concierge team, with access to some of the UK’s leading specialists and most pioneering techniques. We’re here for you after any treatment you may need too, with clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapy experts, occupational therapists, nutritionists and many more specialists here to help you get back to better health and doing the things you love.
When you’re ready to return to your home country, your physician will make sure there’s a safe plan in place. Wherever possible this will include follow-ups with our specialists via virtual online consultations and liaison with doctors in your home country, to ensure continuity of care.
In the initial stage, we'll send you a cost guide providing you with approximate costs, but please be aware that the final cost of your treatment may be more than the guide price.
Once your consultant has seen you, ordered tests and decided on a course of treatment, we can give you a firm idea of costs. You'll be sent a clear overview of how much treatment will cost and the amount of time you'll need to stay in the UK for that treatment and any follow-up care you may need. You can use all this information to decide on whether you’d like to go ahead.
If you have health insurance: It’s good to know that we work with a range of health insurance companies from all over the world including BUPA, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and International SOS. Contact your insurer for information about how to access an HCA UK facility under your policy.
If your government is sponsoring your treatment: We work with a number of embassies and high commissions in the UK. Please contact your embassy representative or medical attaché in the first instance to confirm that you’re eligible for cover. This letter of guarantee must be received by the team at HCA UK facility on the day of your appointment at the latest. We’d prefer to receive it before that day.
If your company is sponsoring your treatment: We work with many companies who pay for their employees and their families to have healthcare treatment in the UK. Please get in touch to find out more.
