The most common types are osteoarthritis (caused by wear and tear) and rheumatoid arthritis (when the immune system attacks the joints). If you’re experiencing pain in your hands and wrists, it may be a sign of arthritis.

Your symptoms may include pain, swelling and stiffness in your wrists and fingers. You may also experience numbness, tingling, pitted nails, painful ulcers or thickened skin. Your symptoms are likely to depending on the type of arthritis you have.
