William Pressley, CEO of The Harley Street Clinic, will now also lead as CEO for The Princess Grace Hospital and HCA Healthcare UK at University College Hospital

Alongside The Portland Hospital, which remains under Jane Whitney-Smith’s leadership, the four facilities will work closely together to offer a more fully consolidated patient pathway within the Harley Street District from state-of-the-art diagnostics through to cutting-edge treatments for a breadth and depth of complex care.

This will further be strengthened with leading consultants and multi-disciplinary teams from HCA UK’s world-leading medical centres in the region who will also feed into the patient pathway under single Medical Advisory Committees at the Harley Street Clinic and The Princess Grace Hospital. It also includes HCA’s clinical trials facility, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, which specialises in the development of new therapies and precision medication for cancer patients; Leaders in Oncology Care teams; and the Institute of Sport Exercise and Health (ISEH).

This means patients will have access to convenient high-quality specialist care across cancer, cardiac, neurology and neurosurgery, women’s healthcare, paediatrics, orthopaedics and spinal care, and sports and exercise medicine, all within a few streets of each other.

The move is part of HCA’s continued programme of investment to support the delivery of seamless patient care, which includes:

  • The opening of a £13.5m, six-floor women’s health centre on Harley Street in 2024, bringing together leading and specialist expertise for women at every stage of their lives.
  • £26m investment in The Harley Street Clinic for its cardiac catheterisation laboratory and the delivery of a new MR-Linac machine to deliver radiotherapy, the first of its kind in the HCA Healthcare global network.
  • £7.9m on theatre refurbishment and a CT scanner at The Princes Grace Hospital, £3.6m for the installation of a 3T MRI at the 30 Devonshire Street outpatient centre, and £600,000 to establish The Princess Grace Spinal Unit.

William Pressley, CEO of The Harley Street Clinic, The Princess Grace and HCA Healthcare UK at UCH, comments: “At HCA Healthcare, we know that seamless care is a critical priority for patients in today’s healthcare landscape. It is therefore an honour to lead the Harley Street District to provide this streamlined care, with access to expertise and specialist treatments available across the facilities. With a superb network of sites all located within streets of one another, we have a real opportunity to enhance the patient experience with exceptional, personalised care, delivered across the hospitals.”
