Expanding Access to Single-Port Robotic Surgery: The Princess Grace Hospital Introduces Intuitive da Vinci SP

More than 20 years ago, The Princess Grace Hospital became one of the first private hospitals in the UK to acquire a da Vinci robotic surgical system, helping to pioneer robotic surgery in the independent healthcare sector. Today, the hospital continues that legacy of innovation with a £2million investment in the next generation of robotic technology, enabling surgeons to perform complex procedures through a single small incision.

This investment follows the successful introduction of the UK’s first da Vinci Single Port system at London Bridge Hospital last year and marks the next step in expanding HCA UK’s market-leading robotic surgery network.

The da Vinci Single Port system allows surgeons to access difficult-to-reach anatomical areas through a single-entry point, offering enhanced dexterity, visualisation and precision. For patients, this can mean reduced scarring, less postoperative pain and faster recovery following surgery.

The technology will initially support procedures across a growing range of specialties, including urology, gynaecology, thoracic and colorectal surgery, treating both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions. As clinical applications continue to expand, patients will have access to some of the most advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques available.
