Professor Peter Schmid

Professor Peter Schmid is an internationally renowned medical oncologist specialising in breast cancer. He is Chair in Cancer Medicine at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, and Clinical Director of the Breast Cancer Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, alongside his role at HCA Healthcare UK.

Professor Schmid has led multiple landmark international trials that have redefined standards of care, particularly in immunotherapy and triple negative breast cancer. His work focuses on translating cancer biology into more effective, targeted and less toxic systemic therapies.
