Why choose us?

This specialist unit at The Portland Hospital is for children who require an intensive programme of outpatient therapy to help them get back to a more normal lifestyle. Often children and young people who have been living with hypermobility and pain become limited in their lifestyles and talk about a loss of control over their lives. Our programme aims to empower children and young adults to take ownership of their condition and regain a sense of control over their lives again. We do this by providing them with a supportive environment where they can get stronger and fitter. We help them learn about their condition and its limitations and explain how and when they can push themselves to achieve the goals they choose to aim for. The programme consists of intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy, with support from a specialist paediatrician, psychologist, teachers and play therapists.
