Exceptional treatment and care

Your treatment will be personalised to your condition and needs, and you’ll receive comprehensive end-to-end care using the latest surgical and non-surgical procedures. We provide a wide range of minimally invasive procedures that can help reduce pain and speed up recovery.

This is only a selection of our treatment options available at The Wilmslow Hospital — other treatments are available depending on your individual needs. Your consultant will advise on the most effective treatment option for your condition.

Eustachian tube balloon

A minimally invasive procedure where a small balloon is inserted and inflated in the Eustachian tube to help open it up and improve airflow, often used to relieve chronic ear pressure or drainage issues.

Perforated eardrum repair

Surgery to treat a hole in the eardrum that won't heal on its own is known as myringoplasty or tympanoplasty.

Cochlear implants

Cochlear implants are surgically implanted devices to treat severe hearing loss. They work by stimulating the nerves in the inner ear to send sound signals to the brain.

Ear reconstruction surgery

Surgery to reconstruct an ear following damage or loss of an ear due to trauma or failed surgery, or to treat a birth defect.

Rhinoplasty

Surgery to reshape the nose. Nose reshaping can reduce, enhance or refine the shape and size of your nose, and improve breathing problems.

Septorhinoplasty

Surgery and nose reshaping to correct any defects in the wall (septum) running between your nostrils.

Nasal polypectomy

Nasal polyps can be removed using minimally invasive surgery.

Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)

This surgery is used to treat severe sinus problems.

Balloon sinuplasty

Symptoms of a chronic sinus infection can be relieved using balloon sinuplasty.

Adenotonsillectomy

A common single procedure to remove enlarged adenoids and tonsils that are causing recurrent symptoms in a child.

Laryngectomy

A surgical procedure to remove the larynx (voice box).

Thyroid surgery

A thyroidectomy is used to diagnose and treat problems with your thyroid gland.

Interventional sialography

A minimally invasive technique to help identify and correct the causes of salivary gland obstruction.

The process

What to expect

From the moment you step through the door, we want you to feel as comfortable and reassured as possible. One of the ways we can put you at ease is to let you know what to expect at each stage of your ENT investigation and treatment process.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered here or in the FAQs below, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our team will be happy to help in any way they can.

01

Initial consultation

Whether you’ve self-referred or have a referral from a GP, the first step will be an initial consultation with one of our ENT consultants to discuss any symptoms such as hearing loss, ear infections, nasal obstruction, sinus issues, sore throat, voice changes, or neck lumps. They may perform a targeted examination of the ears, nose, or throat.

02

Tests and scans

Depending on your symptoms, your consultant may recommend further investigations, such as hearing tests, nasendoscopy, imaging (CT or MRI scans), allergy testing or swabs and balance tests.

Any scans will be reviewed by a specialist radiologist, assuring you of rapid, accurate diagnosis and expert treatment for your specific symptoms or condition.

03

Treatment and management

Once they’ve confirmed a diagnosis, our specialists will create a comprehensive treatment plan, with options that are fully personalised for your needs.

Depending on your condition, this may include medication, minor procedures in clinic or surgery such as tonsillectomy, sinus surgery, grommets, or septoplasty. You may be referred to a speech and language therapist.

04

Follow up and ongoing care

Our multidisciplinary specialists are here to support you throughout your recovery, ensuring you’re comfortable with your treatment and care at every stage.
