Mr Greg Jones is a leading Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeon with specialist expertise in weight loss and bariatric surgery, gallbladder disease, and hernia repair. Based in the Thames Valley region and central London, he holds an NHS consultant post at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and provides private care through Thames Valley General Surgery and Optimise Weight Loss. He works closely with patients to understand their individual needs and deliver tailored treatment—whether surgical or non-surgical.
Mr Jones is highly experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, including minimally invasive procedures for hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and weight loss surgery. He performs a wide range of bariatric procedures, including gastric bypass, and is supported by a multidisciplinary weight management team. His services also include gastroscopy and endoscopy for diagnosing and treating upper GI conditions. He has a particular interest in enhanced recovery after surgery, helping patients return to normal life as quickly and safely as possible.
He earned a BSc from University College London in 2002 and qualified in medicine at Imperial College London in 2003. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012 and undertook advanced training in the UK, Australia, the Netherlands, and France. Mr Jones is a member of BOMSS, IFSO, AUGIS, and the GMC, and treats conditions such as weight gain, weight loss, hernia, and gallbladder disease with professionalism and compassionate care.
