Mr Medhat Zekry is nationally and internationally trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Hand, Wrist and Elbow surgery based at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London. He worked before as consultant Hand and Wrist at Royal Free Hospital NHS foundation Trust. He has special interest in complex fractures and sports injuries management in adults and children besides wide range of other Hand and Wrist disorders. He is European Board of Hand Surgery Diploma certified.

After completing his higher specialty orthopaedic training in Birmingham University Hospitals, he had an upper limb complex Trauma Fellowship training at King’s College London followed by Hand and Wrist Post CCT fellowship training at same hospital with renowned Hand consultants. Then followed by paediatric orthopaedics fellowship from University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

His widespread training and experience of moving jobs as a consultant has given him a broad perspective on a career as a Hand surgeon. Mr Zekry strongly believes in evidence-based practice whilst utilising the latest techniques, with an emphasis on patient centred care.

He widely operates using Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) on various conditions without needing general anaesthetics and sedations with its great advantages to patients.

Mr Zekry is passionate about improving his patients’ experience and actively contribute in several ways to improve and innovate the Hand service. Currently, he is the clinical governance Lead for trauma and orthopaedics and a member of the quality and safety panel for surgical specialties.

Mr Zekry has particular interest in education and research. He teaches Hand surgery on various training platform courses for FRCS Orth exam candidates. He edited the Hand and Wrist book chapter in Concise Orthopaedic Notes for FRCS Orth. He published papers in peer reviewed journals and presented his research at prestigious national and international conferences.
