An advanced robotic treadmill, Lokomat is designed for patients with severe neurological impairments. They get the experience of walking while their body weight is fully supported, allowing them to push their boundaries safely.
The Armeo Spring helps patients regain a greater range of movement by providing weight support for an impaired or injured arm. The system helps patients reach their mobility goals, by encouraging more precise movement patterns.
Enables accurate and detailed assessment of patients gait. This technology is integrated within our Gait Clinic service which enables targeted prescription of Orthotics and functional electrical stimulation devices such as the FESIA walk. Patients are able to trial these devices, gain real time feedback and see first-hand how these devices and/or orthotics may aid their walking and balance.
Our heated hydrotherapy pool at The Wellington Hospital is used to for water-based exercises that provide vital pain relief and improve circulation while gently supporting mobility. This therapy is beneficial for a range of conditions and promotes healing in a soothing environment.
The FES bike is a crucial tool for stimulating movement in paralysed muscles, using small electrical pulses to activate motor neurons. This system is ideal for patients with complex orthopaedic and neurological conditions.
For patients needing support with communication and accessing their environment we have a specialist team to assess and support. Assessments include a variety of low tech and high-tech tools (communication books, communication programmes and apps) with a range of access methods (such as switches, eye gaze). We work closely with leading technology companies to ensure that communication systems are best suited and adapted to our patients, maximising their ability to communicate with those around them, as well as accessing their environment.
