What happens icon plus
If your consultant suspects autism spectrum disorder (ASD), your child will be referred for a semi-structured assessment of communication, social interaction, and play (or imaginative use of materials) using the autism diagnostic observation schedule (ADOS) test. This test involves your consultant neurodevelopmental paediatrician and our multidisciplinary team which may include psychologists, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists. -
How to prepare icon plus
The symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can often be seen between one and three years of age. While your child may have a a developmental evaluation before they turn two, a definitive diagnosis may not be made until a later stage. An initial assessment for your child involves a consultation with one of our consultant neurodevelopmental paediatricians. They specialise in the diagnosis and management of children with developmental difficulties and disabilities. -

Following the assessment, you will have an appointment with your consultant neurodevelopmental paediatrician who will provide formal feedback and a plan of care.
