He collaborates closely with international experts on this method and has extensively published and demonstrated it nationally and internationally.

Furthermore, Professor Ishaq pioneered flexible endoscopic treatments for Zenker Diverticulum and GERD in the UK, as well as the full thickness resection of early cancer. He was honoured with a PhD for his groundbreaking research on Zenker diverticulum.

In 2019, he introduced endoscopic treatment for Zenker Diverticulum in Japan and is now eagerly planning to establish flexible endoscopic treatment for Zenker diverticulum at Harborne Hospital in Birmingham from later in 2024.

Professor Ishaq has contributed significantly to medical guidance as an advisor for NICE interventional procedures and as part of the National clinical advisors to NCEPD: GI bleed study. His extensive publication record includes over 195 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, and he serves as a reviewer for high-impact scientific journals. He is frequently invited to perform live endoscopy demonstrations and training sessions and serves as regular invited faculty at national and international meetings.

Additionally, Professor Ishaq directs the Birmingham International Endoscopy Symposium, providing a platform for national and international expert speakers to convene in Birmingham.
