Mr Pablo Martinez-Devesa is a highly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with extensive expertise in Otology, Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery. He completed his initial surgical training in London at the Royal Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital and in Cambridge at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, before undertaking his specialist ENT training in Oxford.
Between 2004 and 2006, Mr Martinez-Devesa further developed his subspecialist skills in Otology and Rhinology/Skull Base Surgery through advanced training in leading centres across Europe, including Denmark, Austria, Holland and France, as well as in the United States. He was appointed as a Consultant ENT Surgeon in Oxford in 2007 and has since performed many thousands of operations, with a particular focus on complex ear surgery, advanced sinus procedures and anterior skull base surgery.
He is a core member of the Oxford Skull Base Multidisciplinary Team, the Cranio-Facial Trauma Team and the Rhino-Orbital MDT, roles he has held since 2010. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Martinez-Devesa is committed to education and training. As part of the Specialist Training Programme in Oxford, he has trained numerous junior surgeons and fellows, and he regularly teaches on national and international courses, including training consultant surgeons in advanced endoscopic sinus and anterior skull base surgery.
Mr Martinez-Devesa remains actively involved in research and has authored dozens of publications and books in his field. He is a member of ENT UK, as well as the British Rhinology and Otology Societies.
His clinical interests span a wide range of ENT conditions. In otology, these include middle ear disease, glue ear and grommet surgery, cholesteatoma, chronic middle ear infections requiring mastoid surgery, balance disorders, dizziness, Ménière’s disease, tinnitus and hearing loss. In rhinology, he treats rhinitis and sinusitis and performs septoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, image-guided (navigation) sinus surgery, advanced frontal sinus drainage procedures such as Draf III (modified Lothrop), and balloon sinuplasty. His expertise also includes anterior skull base surgery, such as cerebrospinal fluid leak repair and tumour excision. In paediatric ENT, he manages conditions including tonsil and adenoid disease, hearing loss, glue ear, grommet insertion, and nasal and sinus disorders.
