Michael M Sabetai, MD PhD DIC FRCS (C-Th) is a consultant Cardiac Surgeon providing all aspects of adult heart surgery.
He trained in General and Trauma Surgery in the USA and came to London where he completed his PhD studies in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Imperial College School of Medicine.
Mr Sabetai undertook his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas', Royal Brompton and London Chest Hospitals in London.
Mr Sabetai obtained further experience in Aortic Root Sugrery and Sugrery of the Thoracic Aorta in two of the best Aortic Surgery centres in the USA under the tuition of Dr Hazim Safi in Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas (surgical management of thoracoabdominal aneurysms) and Dr Joe Bavaria in the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (aortic root surgery and hybrid approaches to aortic arch surgery by means of surgery and stenting).
Mr Sabetai completed his training in 2011 and was appointed as a Consultant Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon at St Thomas' Hospital in 2012. He has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of the thoracic aorta, aortic root and aortic valve surgery including minimally invasive keyhole approaches to aortic valve replacement.
Mr Sabetai has been running a Thoracic Aorta Surveillance Clinic since 2012. He is a core member of the Thoracic Aortic Multidisciplinary Team at St Thomas' Hospital.
