He ensures that patients are involved in the decision-making process and provides a balanced and honest opinion of their surgical and non-surgical options, sometimes in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Mr Malhotra is a graduate with honours from the University of Manchester and has completed orthopaedic training in Yorkshire and London. He has also completed fellowships in foot and ankle surgery in Australia and the UK, and a travelling fellowship to Singapore, receiving a grant from the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) for his fellowship training. Mr Malhotra is actively involved in training and leads the junior doctor teaching programme at RNOH. He also runs simulation training and teaches various teaching programmes and exam courses. He has a passion for research and has published numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and consensus documents. He is involved in cutting-edge research into novel methods of treating arthritis, deformity correction, treatment of neuromuscular disorders, and methods for assessing foot and ankle conditions.

Mr Malhotra has won multiple prizes throughout his career, including the prize for the best performance on simulation surgery and 'Best Research Paper'. He also won the first prize for 'Best International Research Paper' by the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) in 2018 and was awarded the 'Best Published Paper' award by EFAS in 2020 for his work on ankle syndesmosis.
