Dr Nickolaos Papamichail has been a consultant cardiologist at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust since 2014 where he specialises in echocardiography and is the clinical lead for echocardiography within the trust. In addition, Dr Papamichail performs echocardiography and cardiac imaging as part of his honourary contract with Guy's and St. Thomas' Foundation Trust. Dr Papamichail has expertise in all aspects of echocardiography including complex, 3D, stress, and transesophageal. He also diagnoses and manages coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, hyperlipidemia, and heart failure.

Following qualification, Dr Papamichail undertook his higher training in general cardiology and echocardiography in Greece and the UK. His research interest is in non-invasive cardiology, and he spent six years in Greece researching the antiplatelet treatment of coronary artery thrombosis, for which he received his PhD. He has since authored several publications and book chapters in the field of cardiology. Dr Papamichail became a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2016.
