Dr Michael Koa-Wing is the Lead Consultant Cardiologist at West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust and visiting consultant to Imperial College Healthcare, Hammersmith Hospital as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College, London.

Dr Koa-Wing is trained in all aspects of general cardiology, including the management of chest pain, heart failure, funny turns, loss of consciousness and palpitations, with a major subspecialist interest heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) and implantable cardiac devices. He implants pacemakers, loop recorders, left atrial appendage occluders, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation devices. He also performs cardioversions and catheter ablation for all arrhythmias, including supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.

Dr Koa-Wing graduated from Guys’, King’s and St. Thomas’ Medical Schools with distinctions, undertaking his postgraduate training at St. Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospitals, Imperial College. During his training years, he has also gained experience at Harvard Medical School associated Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA.

Dr Koa-Wing has a PhD in cardiac electrophysiology awarded by Imperial College, London; his research findings resulting in a multicentre clinical trial in ventricular tachycardia ablation in addition to the development a 3D mapping system for ablation of complex arrhythmias (Ripple Mapping), now in clinical use worldwide.

Dr Koa-Wing is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, member of the British Cardiac Society, European Society of Cardiology and British Heart Rhythm Society.
