Professor Tony Narula qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 1979 and completed specialist training in ear, nose and throat surgery in London and Nottingham. He was appointed consultant in Leicester in 1989 before holding consultant otorhinolaryngology posts at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. He also served as Honorary Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital, prior to taking early retirement in December 2014.
He is a founding member and current Chair of the Board of Governors of the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative and has authored numerous publications focused on tracheostomy care and quality of life outcomes following paediatric ENT surgery.
Professor Narula has a long-standing commitment to education, teaching extensively in the UK and internationally. Since 2003, he has held the position of Honorary Visiting Professor at Middlesex University, where he contributes to the Diploma in ENT programme for general practitioners.
His professional leadership roles include election to the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2004, during which time he served as Honorary Treasurer. He later held office as President of ENT UK from 2015 to 2017.
His clinical interests and areas of expertise include paediatric ENT, disorders of hearing and the ear, as well as otology, rhinology and laryngology.
