Associate Professor Povlsen is a leading expert who solely treats hand, elbow, and shoulder conditions and specialises in minimal and non-invasive treatment. He was a senior consultant at Guy's for more than 20 years. For the last 8 years, he has been concentrating on treating private patients. He receives referrals of complex hand and upper extremity problems from within the UK and internationally. He is a board member of the British Orthopaedic Association - professional standards committee. His clinical interests are nerve entrapment conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, Dupuytren contracture, wrist/elbow/shoulder pain, tendonitis, and work-related upper limb disorders/RSI. Professor Povlsen has an active research interest and has published more than 60 peer-reviewed research articles, books, and clinical comments generating more than 800 citations. For leisure, he is a keen sailor and Yacht Master.
