Professor Yacoub Khalaf is a Consultant Gynaecology, and a renowned expert in infertility, assited concetion, fibroid management, PCOS and recurrent miscarriage. He qualified in Egypt at Assiut University and completed his subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and also his MD in Birmingham, UK. He works as a consultant since 2001.
Mr Khalaf is a recognised international expert in management of infertility and assisted conception and he is currently the Medical Director of the Assisted Conception Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Director of the Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) Programme. Together with his ACU team, he has been helping many couples fulfill their dream of having children.
Additionally, Mr Khalaf is particularly interest in the conservative management of uterine fibroids and he is a national and international expert in this field. He has been voted and described by his peers as one of the safest pair of hands in fibroid surgery. Entirely dedicated to his profession, Mr Khalaf prides himself on offering and delivering a truly patient-centred care, personalized on an individual basis.
With his vast experience in this field, Mr Khalaf has lectured at major national and international conferences and also published widely on all aspects of assisted conception, in particular, fibroids, ovarian stimulation, IVF and PGD. He has also appeared on TV (BBC, ITV, Channel 4) in addition to interviews by the BBC Today programme and Radio 5. He is a spokesperson for the British Fertility Society.
