After graduating with a 1st class degree from the University of Liverpool in 2002, Mr Hove began his career in Ophthalmology as a senior house officer in Eastbourne, followed by a rotation at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. After obtaining his MRCOphth, Mr Hove then spent 2.5 years as a Cataract Research Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he conducted research on multifocal lenses and achieved a MD qualification.
Mr Hove did his registrar training on the North Thames Ophthalmology rotation, which included Moorfields Eye Hospital. During this time, he successfully completed his FRCOphth, achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training and is listed on the Specialist Register.
Mr Hove also completed fellowships in Medical Retina and Cataracts and Eye Casualty at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Here, he also worked as a locum consultant in both Cataract and Eye Casualty service. Mr Hove then took up a post as a substantive consultant at the Western Eye Hospital, where he is also the lead for Eye Casualty.
In 2017, Mr Hove gained the Certificate of Laser and Refractive surgery (CertLRS) from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He has a wealth of experience in all refractive surgery procedures, including LASIK, LASEK, implantable contact lens (ICL), natural lens replacement (refractive lens exchange) and intraocular lens exchanges.
Throughout his years of practice, Mr Hove has performed over 4500 intraocular and refractive procedures.
