Mr Martin Klinke is an orthopaedic specialist in foot and ankle problems but also holds a qualification in sports and exercise medicine
He graduated from medical school in Frankfurt and received his master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Nice.
He completed his post graduate Orthopaedic training in the major teaching hospitals of Germany and Paris, followed by a specialised foot and ankle fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. In 2001 Mr Klinke worked for a year with Professor Hinterman, a world-leading specialist in ankle replacements. In 1999 he also received the qualification in sports and exercise medicine.
Mr Klinke was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital Trust in 2002. He joined the London Foot and Ankle Centre in 2003 and is the senior foot and ankle surgeon at London Bridge Hospital. He also works at the Lister hospital.
Mr Klinke performs the whole spectrum of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and has a particular interest in hind foot pathologies, ankle replacements, sports injuries and forefoot disorders. This also includes ankle arthroscopy (‘keyhole’ surgery), minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair, minimal invasive forefoot surgery and operative reconstruction of foot deformities.
Due to his training in Sports Medicine he also treats athletes suffering from acute injuries or overuse syndromes, including shock wave treatment for Achilles tendinopathies and plantar fasciitis.
Mr Klinke works very closely with a team of physiotherapists and podiatrists to ensure best possible conservative treatment but also a quick and full recovery after surgery.
Mr Klinke is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the German Foot and Ankle Society (DAF). He is regularly invited to lecture nationally and internationally and also travels abroad to operate on specific complex cases.
