London-based Consultant Urological Surgeon, Mr Gordon Muir, is a highly regarded expert in minimally invasive treatment of urological cancer, male urinary symptoms, including incontinence, male sexual dysfunction and fertility and treating prostatic disease. Mr Muir has shared his insights and expertise around the globe, teaching other medical professionals about his experience with prostate and andrology conditions. Mr Muir serves for the NHS at King's College Hospital in London, where he has been based since 1996. He is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at King’s College London.
After graduating with a medical degree in 1984 from the University of Glasgow, Mr Muir spent some time in the army, before undertaking postgraduate specialty training in surgery and urology St George's Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. His specialty training also took him to a number of centres around the world, including in France, Italy, Egypt and the USA.
Mr Muir has contributed significantly to research and publications in the field of urological cancer, erectile problems, surgical training and laser prostatectomy. He is widely acknowledged as the pioneer in minimising the side effects in the treatment of both benign and malignant prostate problems, as well as erectile and fertility problems. Indeed, a number of the standard procedures carried out in these treatment areas, such as laser prostatectomy and frenuloplasty, have been described or developed by Mr Muir. He also leads regular training courses for other specialists internationally, and with visiting professorships in Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA, has given lectures all around the world.
