Dr Chatu is a clinician with extensive experience in every aspect of gastroenterology, hepatology and general medicine. He is not only a clinician but also an academic. As an academic, he is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with King’s College London. As a clinician, he is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at King’s College Hospital.
He was trained at the distinguished St Bartholomews and Royal London Medical School in London and completed his training in 2000. He received a variety of distinctions and prizes while he was on training due to his academic achievements. He completed a five-year specialist training programme in Gastroenterology & General Medicine at London Deanery, and obtained experience at various London Hospitals. Dr Chatu worked in Brisbane, Australia for one year to have additional clinical experience. He moved forward to complete a 3-year full-time higher research degree and earned M.D. Research at the University of London. His publications are in a number of high quality peer-reviewed international journals. He received a Medical Research Council grant and authored a successful textbook called ‘Hands-on Guide to Clinical Pharmacology’. It was a moment of honour when Dr Chatu presented his work on how to manage gastrointestinal cancer at The Houses of Parliament.
Current memberships include the British Society of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, British Medical Association and The Royal College of Physicians.
