Mr Paul Ziprin is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon at Imperial College London. He also performs private work at The Wellington Hospital, London Digestive Centre and The Princess Grace Hospital. He specialises in general surgery, particularly the investigation and treatment of hernias and surgical management of gallstones. His subspecialty interests include laparoscopic (keyhole), endoscopy and colorectal surgery. This includes the investigation of patients with rectal bleeding, management of haemorrhoids and fissures, and treatment of patients with colorectal (bowel) and anal cancer.
After graduating in medicine from the University of Wales, Mr Zipin undertook General Surgery training. In 2003 he was awarded an MD by the University of London and a Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons. He took up his post at Imperial College in 2004, and is now Chair of Colorectal Cancer Services and Lead for General Surgery.
He has an active interest in research into the role of circulating tumour cells in predicting outcomes in colon cancer surgery, simulation in surgical education and also in novel biomarkers in anal cancer
Mr Ziprin takes a patient-centred approach to care and works closely with a multidisciplinary team.
