Mr Foroughi qualified from Sheffield Medical School in 1992 and obtained his FRCS in 1997. He then went on to complete highly extensive and sub-specialised neurosurgical training at the Royal London Hospital, before completing his formal Neurosurgical training program at the University Hospital of Wales, with extensive training in both brain and spinal surgery.

This was followed by three long and intensive Neurosurgical fellowships in; vascular neurosurgery with the Neurosurgical team in Helsinki Finland, completion of the accredited North-American Paediatric neurosurgical fellowship program in Vancouver Canada, and further training in Skull base & minimally invasive neurosurgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he also worked as a consultant Neurosurgeon for several years, covering both general and complex Brain & Spine surgical disorders.

Whilst working in the UK's largest and busiest Neurosurgical unit, he supported the Military Service at QEH and was much involved in the development of Neuro-Trauma, Neurovascular, skull base surgery and Neuro-oncology services.

He has been a full time NHS consultant in Brighton between 2015 and 2022, and is in now in full time private practice in Brain & spine surgery. He has more than 25 years’ experience in Neurosurgery, is passionate about new and beneficial technology, use of Artificial Intelligence, collaborative MDT & team work, and development of CSF disorders as a speciality. His focus and main special interests include management of hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, arachnoid cysts and neuro-endoscopy for CSF pathway lesions.
