Mr Dirk Strauss is a Consultant Surgeon Oncologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and he also sees patients privately at this hospital and at The Lister Hospital. Both hospitals have a one-stop diagnostic facility that provides clinical assessment, diagnostic imaging and needle biopsies in a single visit when possible and where patients are managed by a multidisciplinary specialist team.

He joined the Royal Marsden Sarcoma and Melanoma Unit in 2008 and prior to this, he trained as a general surgeon in South Africa. He also underwent further specialist training in upper GI surgery at St Thomas' Hospital, London and in Sarcoma and Surgical Oncology at The Royal Marsden Hospital.

Mr Strauss has special interests in surgery for limb, retroperitoneal and intro-abdomen sarcomas. He participates in clinical trials within the UK and Europe and he has a principal investigtor role within the Sarcoma unit.

Mr Strauss is a member of the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group (STBSG), Connective Tissue Oncology Group (CTOS), TransAtlantic Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group and British Association Of Surgical Oncology (BASO).
