He specialises in inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and advanced minimally invasive techniques, and frequently performs complex re-operative surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, and abdominal wall reconstruction. He is also involved in the implementation of the robotic colorectal surgery program at University College London Hospitals and serves as the Clinical Director of General Surgery at King Edward VII's Hospital in Marylebone.

Mr von Roon believes in tailoring his approach to the specific needs of each individual patient, and he is committed to using the latest surgical techniques to minimize tissue trauma and pain. He is interested in evidence synthesis in inflammatory bowel disease and surgical trials, and he regularly gives lectures on the surgical management of IBD.

He received a research fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2008 and was awarded a PhD by Imperial College London in 2012.
